Hello,
Recently my friend just upgraded to COX Gigablast. Tested from his main PC and only got around 275. Cox guy tested from his meter and got 960. He is using the Speedtest app (downloaded from MS Store), and also the web version, both of which seem consistent.
So, he started troubleshooting, and from various other PC’s on my network (Windows 10 1903 and Mac), He would regularly get 700-950. Just not on his PC!
He plugged his laptop into the ethernet cable and got over 900, so he know 's not the cable drop.
He uninstalled all VPN software (Sonicwall and Forticlient) and removed also malware software. No change.
He performed a “Network Reset” in Windows, no change.
He tried a quick install of a fresh Windows 10 on this PC (1903, same as what he is running), and got over 900, so it’s not the PC hardware.
He downloaded the latest Realtek PC driver from Dell.com and installed on both Windows 10 and the clean install drive. Still, slow on Windows 10, but clean Windows is over 900, so not the driver.
Since it’s the main PC, it’d sure be nice to get them over 900 speeds the other computers he has been getting on the same network.
As a last resort, he stuck in an Intel Gigabit adapter card into the desktop, and still slow speed (hence, not the adapter).
Something, software-wise or settings-wise, is slowing this PC down.
Thanking you.
