How to open VHDX file after backup

Is there a way to open up a VHDX file after I did Win 10 backup and restore? I want to access a specific file that I’ve backed up recently through virtual HD but getting an error message “The disk image isn’t initialised, contains partitions that aren’t recognisable…” Any other way to view the file?

Maybe try to Open Disk Management-> Action-> Attach VHD and navigate to the .VHDX file. then assign a letter to it.

Please let me know the result.

Hi Roberts,

Yes, you can open the VHDX or VHD file after the backup in any of Windows 10 device. This type of error is common in windows just be patient As Winterfell10 suggested above try to attach the disk you may refer this article How to Mount or Unmount VHD and VHDX File in Windows 10 which has a clear explanation on attaching the disk in various ways. Let me know if this helps otherwise I’ll suggest other ways to achieve this.
