Hello, guys
One of my friends, he sends me this message and he told me to solve this issue.
I can’t solve this issue, that’s why I’m posting here
My Friend’s Message is:
I work with a specific combination of software that requires a FILE: (Print to File) printer to be installed. We had luck with HP Universal PCL 5/6 and HP Color Laserjet 1600 Class Drivers.
but those seem to be failing with installation on newer computers. The solution we’ve discovered (when we can get it to install on individual computers) is using the HP Laserjet 4si driver.
However, I work with multiple companies that are trying to get up-to-date with Windows 10 and I have yet to find a consistent way to instruct people to install this.
Things that have worked:
-
Sharing the printer from an older version of Windows 10 or Windows 7 that has the 4si driver and uses the then-installed driver to set up the FILE printer as required. If the company I’m instructing doesn’t have this elsewhere it doesn’t work (and it’s ridiculously complicated for the ones who do).
-
Installing the drivers from the Windows Update Catalog. It worked in one situation but not the next. At one company where it failed, their IT tried to tell me the download from the link below was just the update files for an already installed driver. If that’s true, maybe just a link to a full download would help? But I cannot find one anywhere that indicates it will work with Windows 10. Considering the age of the driver, I doubt it’s supposed to work, so I don’t know if I’m just passing over the one download I need because it’s not labeled as functioning with Windows 10?
