When I run iTunes and turn home sharing on, everything works fine, but when I turn that off and turn on Media Sharing in the panel, the movie and TV list is empty. AppleTV has the programs. What could be the issue here (got MacBook)?

Maybe what the mac is doing is transfering the data from one place to another
You might wanna uncheck the TV shows on transfer box confirmation, I reckon that it was gone after transfer.
