Minimum disc requirement for three-way mirror

Hello! As in a document below you would see that it says that the minimum disc requirement for two way mirror is 2, and the three-way mirror is 3, but when I configure a three-way mirror it shows me that I need 5 discs for a three-way mirror. Could somebody please confirm for me what is the minimum requirement for two way and three-way mirror?

Hi Danny

Thanks for your posting. Please check read through this information

I hope you find it helpful.

Hi @Danny,

The error you got it reasonable. You need 5 disk to run a 3 way mirror. In Windows Server 2012 Storage Spaces and Windows 8 Storage Spaces, a 2-way mirror requires at least 2 physical disks. However, a 3-way mirror requires at least 5 physical disks.

The reason is that a 3-way mirror uses a quorum. In order to keep running, the mirror space must keep over 50% of the disks functioning. So a 3-way mirror must have at least 5 physical disks to be able to survive the loss of up to 2 physical disks

Hello @Danny
Two-way mirror requires minimum two Hard Disk
While three way mirror requires minimum five Harddisk

A three-way mirror requires a minimum of five disks which helps ensure quorum in the event of some crack in disk communication.

Hey there!
In order to keep running, the mirror space must keep over 50% of the disks functioning. So a 3 -way mirror must have at least 5 physical disks to be able to survive the loss of up to 2 physical disks .
