Replacing a hard drive with Samsung 860 EVO SSD

Few days ago, I decided to upgrade my old laptop (HP i5-4th Gen CPU) by replacing a hard drive with Samsung 860 EVO SSD to speed things up. Following the update, everything works (mostly) fine. However, computer would freeze up randomly and would require several reboots to happen in order to get started. This is the error message I am getting every time it freezes up and then crashes:

“Boot Device Not Found.

Please install an operating system on your hard disk.

Hard Disk (3F0)”

What might be the possible cause?

Hi @Brad

Try these solutions one by one

  1. Check whether you have select the Right boot device in BIOS
  2. Take out the SSD and Put it back and check.
  3. Reinstall the OS again

Hello @Brad

As mentioned by you, that your Operating System is crashed and you will have to install Operating system again from HP Recovery Media
but be sure that your harddisk must be larger then your old one for example if you have 500 GB HDD you could use 1 TB, not less than you old one HDD

Download windows installation file from Official web site and install it. your windows may be crashed, if it doesn’t exist notice us, there is more one way to fix your problem
