Switching Win 10 files from HDD to SDD

Hello everyone! I need assistance (well, a walkthrough) on SSD & HDD switch. I bought a new SSD and moved the older HDD to an optical drive bay. Then, I installed Windows 10 on SSD (through UEFI USB), while EFI was still located in HDD. So the question is – can I move EFI from HDD to SDD or recreate the partition without messing anything up?

boot PC using windows installation media and first page press shift+F10 and run command prompt
and type

diskpart
list disk
select disk X Note:X= Select the disk where you want to add the EFI System partition.
list partition
select partition Y Note:Y= Select the Windows OS partition (# number) or your data partition.
shrink desired=100
create partition efi size=100
format quick fs=fat32
assign letter=s

list partition
list volume Note: Note the volume letter where the Windows OS is installed.
exit

bcdboot Z:\windows /s S: Replace “Z” with the volume letter of the Windows OS partition.

Hi @Lazar,

Without doing a long procedure you may install a software named EaseUS Partition with this software you can easily recreate or toggle into different types of partitions without messing anything safely

SSDs offer a significant development over the traditional hard drives and boosts system performance. Migrating Windows is an easy task but keeping a backup is also essential especially before performing advanced tasks like Windows migration. The following are methods used for moving Windows 10 from hard drive (HDD) to a Solid State Drive (SSD).

  • Using Windows Backup Image
  • Drive cloning with the help of professional software
  • Using migration tool provided by the Solid State Drive manufacturer
