Synology NAS authentication for Domain users?

Hi,

Recently we bought a NAS synology DS918+.

I am thinking to use domain authentication for all of my domain users. I have a quick question our DC is hosted in azure.

When internet gets down will they user able to authenticate the NAS shares with domain credential?

or What is the best practice to handle NAS in domain environment?
