I was using Win7 and was running smoothly with no problems at all, but I’m thinking about upgrading it to Win10. Some hardware components are not compatible with Win10, so I wanted to ask you if it is possible to proceed with the upgrade, or should I pay attention to something before doing it?
Hello @SamuelJZ
Welcome to community!
It is good that you are thinking about upgrading Win 7 to Win 10,
because Microsoft is going to end the support of windows 7 in January 2020.
When you upgrade windows 7 to Windows 10 so there is no problem of comatible as upgrading means your system will upgrade to windows 10 and your all previous software which were in windows 7 will remain the same and you don’t need to install any other driver or software.
Hello @SamuelJZ
If you want to run Win 10 smoothly you must meet this hardware requirements
for 64 bit : you need
1. 4gb Ram
2. 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC
3. 320 GB - Hard drive (80Gb for windows partition /c)
can you share your hardware components details?
Hi @SamuelJZ,
Welcome to the community, ,
What is the existing configuration of your device? Windows 10 works fine with 2GB of RAM and even with core to due processor. But the main thing to consider is your workload. You upgrade your device right away with the existing configuration. Later, you can upgrade as per the workload and you putting on it.
To my recommendation for a smooth running:
- 8 GB of RAM
- 1TB of HDD + (256GB SSD optional)
- i3 or i5 processor with latest Gen
Hello
It will be better if you share your hardware requirement.
You may upgrade your windows without paying any attention as Windows 10 will automatically install 99% of your hardware automatically (if Genuine one). In case of any hardware that will be not properly working or install, you may install any additional software which will detect your hardware and install the same
After Windows 10 upgrade do these 7 things immediately
- Create a recovery drive
- Your user account should be secured
- Turn on Bitlocker drive Encryption
- Configure Windows Update
- Review Privacy Settings
- Connect other accounts
- Customize your taskbar and action center settings
Hey there!
You need to check the hardware requirements
1. 4gb Ram
2. 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC
3. 320 GB - Hard drive (80Gb for windows partition /c)
