Windows 10 Cannot Decrypt File on Thumb Drive

Hi Everybody

We have an issue where our users plugged into their Windows 10 Pro x64 laptop an old thumb driver. In that, they opened their financials folder, right-clicked, properties… and chose the option to “Encrypt contents to secure data”.

After doing that, They tried to open one of the encrypted files and wasn’t able to open. They got 0x80071771 error “The specified file could not be decrypted”. When they stand to research it they saw that many articles to change so they right-clicked and didn’t see a security tab. They opened up their Computer and saw that the thumb drive is FAT formatted. The files for which they are trying to open up is Excel 97-2003 file format.

They tried a lot to decrypt it by unchecking the box, transfer the folder to the C: drive but it stuck immediately.

We worked a lot on it thus Anyone has much experience of this.

Thanking you in advance.
