Windows 10 Mapped drive folder redirection causing missing of files

I have an issue where we have roaming profiles and folder redirection enabled and randomly, the user is only shown a few files or a folder in their mapped drive rather than a complete list.

The only way I was able to set to temporarily resolve is by either deleting all the offline files or running the below registry entry:

reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Csc\Parameters /v FormatDatabase /t REG_DWORD /d 1

Even then, the problem seems to come back after a while (several months maybe). Not sure what the trigger is or what the permanent solution is.

I also noticed that in some cases, users who have this configuration are not able to see all the files in the Y: drive, despite having the correct share and NTFS permissions present - you can log into the server directly and see them, but the user can’t do so.

Hi @aadil,

When you try to open the shared folder with \PC_NAME\SHARED_FOLDER what error do you get?

Do you have this issue with other machines? Have you tried opening the shared folder from Windows 10 machine?

Check to be sure offline files is not on for that share… could be detecting a slow link and forcing offline.

This issue may be caused by the Automatic refresh folder. You may kindly refer to the following steps:

  1. Open your Windows Explorer, and click organize.
  2. Click Folder and Search Option.
  3. Under the General Tab, please check the box before “Automatically expand to current folder".

If the issue persists, please try to disable the folder Index, please kindly refer to the following steps:

  1. Click Start Menu, then type Offline files, then click Manager Offline Files in the search result.
  2. Then check whether you enable offline files, if so, please disable it to have a try.

In addition, can you advise me on the following things:

  1. How other computers access the shares? Are they via a mapped drive or access directly?
  2. Are the new components able to be viewed immediately on the local computer?

Also, please kindly try the following steps:

  1. Disable Remote Differential Compression.
  2. Disable Auto-Tuning.
  3. Disable SMBV2.

Hope this helps

hello @aadil

Is this problem appears in only one system or all the systems?
