Windows 10 Speaker not working when headphone unplugged

Hi,

When I visited my branch office one of the user told me the speaker not working in his PC when he unplugs the HeadPhone in his PC.

I told me to raise a ticket and moved one I saw he had sent me an image as I have shared below:

After nearly two months now he has created the ticket so I am investigating now.

This PC has an inbuilt speaker and as per his claim, it was working fine till like September. Now I am struggling to investigate this issue because as I am in another office when I connect the PC using RDP this error does not appear because the system goes to the remote speaker.

I will be visiting the office on Monday So I thought I would ask for the expert help.

here is the fix:

Hello @NaveenD

As you mentioned in image, it shows audio driver is not installed or disabled, you can check it by run devmgmt.msc in run menu.
Start–>run–>devmgmt.msc–>ok

If you want to install the driver you can use driver pack solutions or you can download from laptop or desktop company site.
if driver is disabled then you just right click in device driver and enable the driver in device manager.

@VIkasmadan is right to me also it seems the audio driver is some what corrupted or disable.

Please try to uninstall the audio driver and reinstalled it again before run the window built in audio diagnostic software and see this can solve you problem.

Check Audio Settings in Windows 10

Go to the Playback devices to check if there are muted or disabled devices. Some incorrectly configured sound devices can result in the no sound when the headphones are unplugged.

Step 1. Unplug the headphones form the jack port and then right click on the speakers icon on the task bar. Select Playback devices .

Step 2. Double click on the speakers you’re going to use to play sounds. Choose General tab and go to the Device usage to see if this device has been disabled. If so, select Use this device (enable) from the drop-down menu.

Step 3. Click Apply and OK to close the box and back to the original box. Highlight the speakers and click on the Set Default button below if you want it to be your default audio device.

If you’re not sure whether there’re audio configuration problems, you make Windows 10 detect the problems automatically by Troubleshoot sound problems .
